2012 Black Friday Mac & iOS Deals for Lawyers

Everyone enjoys a good deal, and fortunately the Black Friday craziness extends to the Mac & iOS App Stores. Here are some of the deals I’ve seen today that are excellent for lawyers and legal professionals:

1password 2012blackfriday1Password for Mac, iOS & Windows

Agile Bits is discounting the entire line of 1Password versions for Mac, iPhone, iPad & Windows so you should pick up whatever version you may still need. I’m a big fan of the 1Password family as a password-manager and I love the fact that I have access to my sync’d database from any device.

If you’re just starting out, I recommend 1Password for Mac reduced to $34.99 from $49.99 and 1Password Pro reduced to $9.99 from $14.99 which is universal for both iPhone and iPad.

Pdfexpert 2012blackfridayReaddle Apps for iOS

Readdle has some of the best productivity apps for iOS and well worth having their entire line on your iPhone and iPad. They run great sales about twice a year so you should have most of their apps already, but if you don’t have PDF Expert yet, you must run to the App Store now and purchase it.

PDF Expert for iPhone now FREE!! (reg. $9.99)

PDF Expert for iPad now $4.99 (reg. $9.99)

Next Scanner Pro is now $1.99 (reg. $6.99) and lets you “scan” a document via your iPhone or iPad camera.

PDF Converter for iPad is now $1.99 (reg. $6.99) and lets you create a PDF from a URL, e-mail, or copied text on the clipboard. I personal prefer PDF PROvider from Dar-Soft because I can merge multiple PDF files together. PDF PROvider is also on sale for $3.99 (reg. $6.99).

Lastly, Calendars is now $1.99 (reg. $6.99). And while I know most folks think it’s silly to purchase another calendar app when one comes built-in with iOS, but I just selected Calendars over two other apps in a shootout for TechnoLawyer and it was great. It offers several additional features over the built-in calendar such as custom views and special keyboard layouts.

Documents To Go for iOS

One of the best apps for editing Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files on the iPhone and iPad is Documents To Go.

Documents To Go “standard” version is now $4.99 (reg. $9.99)

Documents To Go Premium is now $9.99 ($16.99)

Quickoffice for iOS

And while you’re downloading Documents To Go, you might as well pick up Quickoffice for iOS as well. I find that some Microsoft Word documents that don’t look right on Documents To Go look just fine in Quickoffice and vice versa. I actually like the interface of Quickoffice a bit better, and their recent update included Track Changes!

Quickoffice Pro for iPhone is now only 99¢ (reg. $14.99)

Quickoffice Pro HD for iPad is now $4.99 (reg. $19.99)

FineScanner by ABBY

FineScanner by ABBYY is an excellent scanning app for your iPhone now 99¢ (reg. $14.99)

Businesscardreader 2012blackfridayBusiness Card Reader for both iPhone & iPad

There are a ton of business card scanners on the App Store, but I keep going back to the Business Card Reader app from SHAPE GmbH. I just like the interface basic functions.

Business Card Reader for iPhone now $1.99 (reg. $4.99)

Business Card Reader HD for iPad now $1.99 (reg. $6.99)

Productivemacs 2012blackfridayProductive Macs Bundle (get it for TextExpander and Path Finder)

This fantastic bundle has been all over the web, but if you haven’t paid your $29.99 (instead of $239) then go there now. The entire bundle is worth it just for TextExpander and Path Finder alone.

Takecontroltextexpander 2012blackfridayTextExpander Take Control E-Book (bundled with the Scrivener Take Control E-Book)

And when you do pick up TextExpander from the Productive Macs Bundle, then head over to the Take Control website and pick up their amazing bundle for only $10 (reg. $20). It’s not for Black Friday, but rather in honor or National Novel Writing Month, Take Control is taking 50% off a two book bundle: Take Control of TextExpander and Take Control of Scrivener 2.

If you caught my presentation on TextExpander at MILOfest last month, then you’ll know that I relied heavily on the excellent Take Control of TextExpander book. Both of these books are well-worth the $10 to have in your digital library.
